These unedited recordings consist of an ethics discussion, recorded by the Cable Public Affairs Channel in Toronto. The format for proceedings consists of a round-table discussion with three prominent Canadian ethicists including Michael Burgess, Bernard Dickens and Margaret Somerville. The panel is moderated by Dr. Fred Lowry, Rector and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University.~A number of hypothetical fact situations related to evidence heard over the course of the inquiry are presented for discussion. Subjects include the price that may be put on a human life, health care funds versus cost benefits, principles that should guide the allocation of scarce health care resources, decision making for these resources, the export of a sub-standard product to a third world country, blood transfusion recipient notification of tainted blood, recall of tainted blood, informed consent, delays in surrogate testing for hepatitis A and B, the imbalance of knowledge between manufacturers and consumers, the allocation of insufficient resources, and high risk donors and stigmatization.
