This film shows some of the places of interest in and around Brighton, England. The journey begins in Victoria Station, London, England, as the "Southern Belle" departs, arriving at the Brighton train station just one hour later. The viewer is shown the Front where fancy hotels and busy boardwalks line the seashore. Some of the famous sights here are the Madiera covered walk, Black Rock, and the electric railway which runs from the Aquarium. The viewer is treated to views of the passing beach and landscape as seen from the moving rail-car. Other points of interest in Brighton include its busy shopping district, the Royal Pavilion, erected by King George IV; Steine Gardens; and the War Memorial. The film continues with shots of some of the rolling hills and farms of the surrounding Downlands country; among places visited are the village of Bramber and the estate Rottingdean, also called "the Elms," which has been occupied by Rudyard Kipling, Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and William Black. Other places shown are Telscombe and its annual Children's Fete; Newhaven, where a steamship arrives; Lewes, where one finds an eleventh century castle and the house of Anne of Cleves; the "Chattri" War Monument near Patcham; Devil's Dyke and the village of Poynings; and, Steyning, the home of Edward the Confessor and many quaint houses. The film concludes back in Brighton where the viewer is shown many of the recreations available to visitors including tennis, bowls, golf, and a boating pool. From the deck of a steamship the film shows the crowded stretch along the Palace and West Piers. The final intertitle reads, "Brighton for Health and Pleasure All-Year Round". <9mn 30s>
