Documentary on the communication explosion. Fletcher Markle introduces John Kettle, Dr. John Pierce, Henry M. Boettinger, Pierre Camu, George Sainsbury, Marshall McLuhan, and Buckminster Fuller. Each man talks to the camera about various aspects of transportation and the communication of information. Supporting visuals include montages of ships; Viking sailing ships; a wagon train; and railways. Sequences deal with container transportation, pipeline construction, seaway shipping, the construction of a super tanker, a giant humpyard, and hovercraft. Medium close-up's of slabs of Egyptian hieroglypics followed by a montage of space age communications gadgetry. London, England is well shown in a slow, low level aerial from over the Thames. The camera cuts, then, to the coliseum in Rome. <25mn 53s>
