This work is with a collection of drawings used to illustrate "Northland Trails" by S.C. Ells, published by Burns & MacEarchan; 1956. This book is a collection of verses, short stories and illustrations, laid out for the most part in the North West Territories., This illustration is found on page 152., This drawing shows a farmer driving a wagon along the old trail from Fort Edmonton to the Athabaska Landing

Note générale :

Fort Edmonton or Edmonton House, was the name of a series of Hudson's Bay Company trading posts from 1795 to 1891. The fort competed for business with the North West Company's Fort Augustus from 1795 to 1821. Fort Edmonton was the terminus of the Carlton Trail, the overland route for Métis freighters between Red River and the west. It was also an important stop on the York Factory Express route between Fort Vancouver (Oregon) and London, via Hudson Bay.
Fort Edmonton was also called Fort-des-Prairies and Amiskwaskahegan (Beaver Hills House).
