The album contains 44 individual drawings (two of which make up a panorama, acc. nos. 1979-9-1.1 & 1.2). The folio paper is blue-grey in colour. There is an engraved coat-of-arms glued to the inside of the front cover. It appears that four drawings have been removed from the album evidenced by titles on stubs followed by missing folios (see inscriptions for titles). The corner of one drawing removed from the album is still glued to a folio remnant (between folios 14 & 15)., January 1979 - in general the album is in good condition. The cover and binding are worn and the folio edges are damaged. Many of the drawings have been cropped by the artist (?)., The drawing is mounted in an album., January 1979 - the drawing is laid down on all four corners and is slightly foxed and soiled., Label on cover of album : American / Sketches in black ink., TITLES ON STUBS : in black ink, first stub between folios 8 & 9 : Fall of Montmorency from the bottom; in black ink, second stub between folios 8 & 9 : Fall of Montmorency from the Road Caday to Cooks; in black ink, stub between folios 14 & 15 : Near the Fall of La Chaudière; in black ink, stub between folios 33 & 34 : From the Bottom of Canadian Fall of Niagara.
