George Seton was a British military officer active in North America from April 14, 1844 to August 31, 1848. British officers were often trained in watercolour to record topography., All of the following works have similar secondary supports, they were probably all pasted in to the same album: 1953-75-3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -8, -10, -12, -13, and -14., Seton may have had some method for recording or grouping his watercolours. Works 1953-75-2, -13, -14, and 1970-188-2097 are all numbered by the artist., A view of Lake George with Caldwell on the left. The location is probably Lake George in the upper Hudson river valley. There are several row boats out on the Lake for pleasure. A paddlewheel steamer is docked at the wharf beside Caldwell.
