This documentary discusses television's impact on the political and national scene in the United States, Great Britain and Canada. It explores the potential of television to educate or deceive the public and questions whether it conveys ideas or only presents personalities. The program includes footage of politicians Lyndon B. Johnson, John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev, astronaut John Glenn, and political commercials and political conventions from the 1964 U.S. Presidential election. Among those interviewed about the use of television by politicians are: Pierre Salinger, press decretary to U.S. President John F. Kennedy; Richard Rovere, a U.S. political analyst; Marya Mannes, a U.S. television critic, writer and broadcaster; and James C. Hagerty, press secretary to U.S. President Dwight D.
