These two mythical birds combine to form the Legend of the First Nimpkish House, a common motif found on the house posts of the Kwakiutl of Alert Bay. Supporting the thunderbirds are Grizzly Bears holding a small human figure. The head of the human appears over a ceremonial "copper," which signified great wealth and power among the Northwest Coast Indians., Top left corner torn.
