A five part radio play by Marian Waldman, about the eccentric Root family, narrated by Alexandra Root who is played by Nonnie Griffin. In this episode the Root's are introduced: Mama Cara; Father Eugene; the children, Prince Edward, Alexandra, Samuel Clemens, George Bernard; Lally, the children's cousin; and their manservant Mendoza. They reside in a home named Starfield. George Bernhard falls gravely ill and nothing seems to aid him. Mendoza, gifted with the sixth sense, performs a ritual to heal him. When Mama Cara is called upon to name the lad's father Eugene busts in and halts the ceremony. George dies and Mendoza is forced to leave. Clemens then runs away to escape an arranged marriage to Lally. However, Lally is pregnant and, to save the family's honour, marries Prince instead.
