Description :

Part two follows the route of a boat travelling down the waterway and points out interesting sites and scenic views along the way. At Hastings, Ontario a canal lock is opened and the boat passes through. The journey continues to Gore's Landing and Rice Lake where, an intertitle indicates, excellent hotel accomodation is available to tourists. Scenic shots of the river and shore are shown. Canal traffic increases and scenery is replaced by shots of freighters and passenger boats. Shots of Peterboro [sic] viewed from the river are shown, as well as the functioning of a canal lift lock. The film ends with scenic views of the waterway at sunset. <4mn 1s>

1. Part two only.~2. Production date indicated by OMPB documents.~3. Companion film to Kawartha Lakes, produced at the same time. Both were directed by OMPB Director, George Patton.~4. Other OMPB Trent Valley Waterway Films include KELLY'S CRUISE and IN THE WAKE OF CHAMPLAIN.~5. 1927 Catalogue description: "This is a travelogue. The journey is from Trenton on Lake Ontario to Bobcaygeon on Sturgeon Lake. Developments are making possible the use of this waterway by boats of 20 tons with 13 foot beam and a length of 55 feet. The first sections of the Trent Canal are, of course, available to much larger craft. Many interesting towns are passed en route, including Peterboro [sic], now a city of 26,000 with many thriving industries. In many localities there is excellent bass fishing." This description is not entirely consistent with what is seen in part two.~6. Crown material over 50 years - copyright expired.
