Approximately 50 years before, children were forcibly removed from their families in order to be educated in live-in schools run by churches. The reports feature archival footage and still photographs as well as interviews of now-adult aboriginals who were victims of the residential school system and the physical, emotional and sexual abuse that occurred in the schools. The former students talk about how the schools punished them for speaking their native languages and in other ways forced white culture on them and systematically tried to take away their native culture. The report cites federal government policy dating from the 1920s that assumed control for native education and forced aboriginal parents to turn their children over to residential schools. <26mn>Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
