In her recollections about the CWPC, Blackwell talks about her aunt Florence Burford Steiner, an advertising writer and early member of the Toronto branch, her own membership in the Ottawa branch from 1941 to 1944, and the forming of the French branch in Montreal, "Le cercle des femmes journalistes", which she later joined becoming the group's "token anglaise".
