CBC Ottawa television station CBOT coverage of municipal election in the region of Ottawa, Ontario. Coverage includes reports on: the election of the mayor of Aylmer, Quebec; results of voting for aldermen; results in Eastview, Ottawa and Aylmer; voting on other issues such as extending the right to vote to people aged 21 and allowing sports matches to be played on Sundays; voting for Ottawa Board of Control, public school trustees and separate school trustees; results from local elections in various Ottawa Valley locations; the history of Ottawa's mayors and city halls; results of voting for mayor of Ottawa; interview of the mayor of Aylmer; more returns from locations such as Cornwall, Deep River and Alexandria; shots of various candidates voting, including Ottawa mayoralty candidate Charlotte Whitton; shots of the vote tabulator machines; interview of Alderman Don Francis about building covered ice rinks and improvements to transportation and housing; interviews of Aldermen [O'Regan] and [Tardif] about improving hospitals, old age homes, the water works and the filtration plant; interview of newly-elected mayor of Eastview; final results for Perth and Cornwall and interview of Alderman Don Reid, who talks about the need to bring industry to Ottawa and to redevelop the area of centre town.
