This recording is one of a series of interviews with famous Canadians recorded especially for CBC Radio Archives and for which special archival fees were paid. Robert Weaver of the CBC commissioned the interviews. This interview is of Sir Ernest MacMillan, who considers the question of whether the present age has a musical expression of its own, the lack of the virtuoso or all-round musician, the somewhat superficial education of today's musicians, the composer and performer as different personalities, and the mistake in teaching students merely as potential concert artists. <13mn 5s>
