He is introduced by Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent, and thanked by the speakers of the two houses, Wishart Robertson, speaker of the Senate, and Louis René Beaudoin, speaker of the House of Commons. In his speech, Eden talks about the need for continued joint effort for peace, the raising of living standards for all free peoples and a continued fight against Communism.
