Amateur film with footage of:~Summer 1939 - Sea Island Airport, now Vancouver International Airport.~Aerial to ground of airport intercut with numerous air to ground and ground to air shots of period aircraft: the Lysander, Blackburn Shark, DC 3 United Airlines Mainliner, Lockheed Electra, the Northrop Delta (RCAF), and the Stranraer (flying boat).~1939 - Blackburn Shark escorting Canadian Pacific Princess coastal steamer service between Victoria and Vancouver during war; several ship to air shots of Blackburn Shark escort flybys.~Overhead shot of Victoria Harbour Bridge, en route to Queen Charlotte Islands, spectacular air to air shots of Sharks in flight.~Various ground shots at Alloford Bay showing barracks converted from a fish cannery and friendly wild doe licks salt from plane floats.~Barging supplies ashore from supply ship Prince John, Noorduyn Norseman, a civilian aircraft commandeered by RCAF, towed up ramp by Cletrac tractor. The tractor is driven by Harry Frost, later lost in a flying training accident.~Prince Rupert - brief shot sequence. Air shot of wheat elevator, Shark at dock, and pan shot of waterfront.~Alloford - island patrol flight, air to water shot of fishing trawler. 1. Amateur footage shot by Doug Pearce while with RCAF.~2. Part A of reel with colour footage at end under separate ISN 248777.~3. The Blackburn Shark was used by RCAF for coastal patrols until 1943, then converted for target-towing.~4. The Lysander sequence at head of film has red solarization of image resembling redox blemishes.
