Photographs of lumbering, Canadian artists, and fishing. Included in the collection are interior and exterior views of the Emily Carr house and studio (some of the latter in colour); a portrait of C.W. Jefferys; Ozias Leduc in his studio; Nova Scotia mouthpainter Earl Bailey; Alfred Pellan in his studio; Marc-Aurèle Fortin painting in the field; Alexander Y. Jackson sketching and being filmed at Saint-Tite-des-Caps, Québec; a Haida woman smoking salmon; totem poles at Alert Bay, B.C.; copy negatives of Edward Curtis views of Haida; lumbering, covering a large number of activities; forest ranger Nils Hansen; fishing on a Lunenburg schooner on the Grand Banks; a Nova Scotia spinner and her spinning wheel; the covered bridge at Farrellton, Quebec, and a roadside shrine; a series of portraits of author Mavis Gallant.
Except for one photograph of A.Y. Jackson at Banff, 1948, all photographs appear to have been taken in the mid to late 1930s, or the early 1940s, and are therefore out of copyright..
