Document and Fiction in Western Canada Independent Filmmaking:~How do fictions affect our perception of reality and understanding of truth? And how much of a so-called documentary is really document? These blurry lines are explored and become starting points for discussions about both forms. Why would some narrative filmmakers choose to introduce documentary elements to their films? Why do some documentaries use narrative strategies to make a more convincing argument? And what happens when the two forms are grafted to create a hybrid?
