The first of four broadcasts of CBC television coverage of the founding convention of the New Party (later renamed the New Democratic Party).~Among the issues and events covered are the drafting of a party constitution, the party leadership race, and the principles of the new party.~Delegates speak from the floor on the principles to be represented by the party, notably trade union support for full employment. Job losses caused by automation are a major concern to the delegates.~Warner Troyer interviews delegates in the crowd.~At the end of the program McKenzie sums up the main points of the debate about full employment. <1h>
