Full-length standing portrait of Sir Charles Saunders, commander of the British naval forces at the siege of Quebec, portrayed with the attack of the French fieships on the British fleet in the background.. Work by the studio of Richard Brompton, copied after the original painting also in the NA as part of the Northcliffe collection.
This work appears not to have been accessioned when in arrived at the NA, nor is it mentioned in RG 37, "C" series records. It was catalogued on May 25, 1937, and on the catalogue card is the inscription giving the source as Mrs. Lucy M. Stewart. The work bears OP0019, and was located in 0330-C006 as of February 1997.
