This series features cowboy Hopalong Cassidy and his comical sidekick California Carlson in adventures of the early west. The stories are based on a character created by Clarence E. Mulford. With theme music preceding and in the background, the announcer introduces the program: "The ring of the silver spurs ..."~Hoppy solves the mystery of a friend's disappearance and dispells superstitions about Massacre Canyon, where a band of Pawnee Indians met a cruel death. The story involves cattle-rustling, ghosts, and a funereal archeologist named Jared Stone. California's hesitance to visit the Canyon provides comic relief.~The announcer previews the next episode and gives credits.
