Northern Electric

A young girl graduates from high school and goes to the Northern Electric Company for her first job, hand winding coils. At lunch an old-timer with 23 years service overhears her with her friends saying they would like real war jobs. He tells them everything manufactured by Northern Electric goes into Canada's war effort. He describes with pictures the manufacture of cable and wire, production of telephone equipment for the armed services, telephones, portable switchboards, field telephone sets, vacuum tubes and shell fuses. The work of the telephone contract division, electrics, development and engineering is shown and described. The 19-Tank Set and radio senders and receivers are seen in manufacture and shipment. Every group is covered - service, cafeteria, guard duty, janitors, electricians, plumbers, medical, and so on. The group breaks up after lunch and goes back to the job inspired and with the knowledge of job importance in the overall effort.
