A special report by Stephen Dale as Canada welcomes its tenth province.~From the ceremony taking place in the Senate Chambers of the House of Commons in Ottawa, Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent announces that an agreement has been reached for the entry of Newfoundland as a Province of the Dominion of Canada.~St. Laurent continues and comments on the difficulties of this new union, in English and then in French.~Speaking on behalf of the new Province of Newfoundland, Albert J. Walsh explains the lengthy periods of negotiation and the great benefits that Newfoundland will now enjoy under confederation. He concludes by saying that he is confident that Newfoundland will find a happy and prosperous place in this new union.~The program concludes with an outline of the conditions of the union by broadcaster Stephen Dale. <1h>
