On 1 May 42 the R.M. Rangers moved into Colwood Camp from where it supplied company and platoon detachments to the Forts (Albert Head, Mary Hill), Christopher Point, Milne's Landing and Jordan River. Tank ambush training using Universal Bren Gun Carrier. Major Vicars. Company crosses from Shawnigan to Port Renfrew via San Juan Trail and returns on RCN Corvette (logging railway, bivouac, Port Renfrew). D Company battle drill school at Metchosin Lagoon (crawing under fire). Work Point Barracks, mounting quarter guard. Rangers as German infantry and commando extras at Saanich Inlet in Columbia's "Commandos Strike at Dawn" (Dir. John Farrow with Paul Muni, Anna Lee, Lillian Gish. "The enthusiasm and vigour of a force of Canadian troops in the Commando Battle scenes contributes in no small measure to their verisimiltude" (Monthly Film Bulletin, U.K., Vol 10, No. 112, 30 Apr 43). Pay parade on bren gun range.
