Under the chairmanship of Andrew Cowan, CBC London the panel discusses what to do about Palestine.~The participants and their comments include:~Sydney Silverman, Zionist and British Member of Parliament Labour for Nelson and Colne, who was educated at the Liverpool Institute and Liverpool University and was formerly a university lecturer at the National University of Finland. He says that the effort of the Jews is the rebirth of a nation; for twenty centuries they lived scattered, suffering persecution of the severest kind; and they created Palestine out of the desert a land that is desired by all.~Brigadier S.H. Longrigg worked for the Iraqi government from 1916 to 1931. He says that the Anglo-American recommendations are unacceptable to the Arabs; they ignore the principle of self-determination and the promises made to the Arabs in the last year; and that Palestine is one-hundred percent Arab and has been so for many centuries.~Aidan Crawley, British Member of Parliament and parliamentary secretary to the colonial secretary, supports the British governments point of view.~He says that the government has made a strenuous effort to implement the recommendations of the Anglo-American commission; that the substance of the recommendations was that Palestine should be neither an Arab nor a Jewish state; and that the government has spent the last year trying to get an agreement from the Arabs and Jews.
