Accession consists of drawings pertaining to approximately 800 projects undertaken by the architectural firm of John Power of Kingston and its successors (Power & Son, Power & Son & Drever, Colin Drever, Drever & Smith, Harry P. Smith, Smith & McLennan). The drawings document both the changing architectural practices and stylistic trends in the 19th and 20th centuries and the development of Kingston, Ontario and the neighbouring towns of Coburg, Belleville, Brockville and Napanee. Included in the accession are plans for the full range of public and private building types one might expect to find in small Canadian cities, as well as drawings of more specialized buildings such as those found on the campuses of Queen's University and Royal Military College.

Accession was received in 1981 from the architectural firm, Mill & Ross Architects, Kingston.
