The fonds comprises genealogical correspondence, a family history, photographs, and historical documents relating to the Landoni and Mattaini families of Fergus, Ontario. The original documents include passports (with two loose passport photographs) and naturalization and immigration papers of Faustino Landoni and Carlo Mattaini (often anglicized to Charles Mattaini), which show the process of settlement in their new country. There are also some newspaper clippings, school records, certificates, and other documents relating to other members of the Landoni and Mattaini families.

The genealogical correspondence between Pat Mestern (nee Mattaini) and Louis Ferrar, 1978-1979, discusses the genealogy and history of the Landoni and Mattaini families. The letters enclose eleven photographs of bridges in Wellington County built by Carlo Mattaini's construction company, ca. 1918-1930; four family photographs showing Faustino Landoni, Carolina Landoni, Maria Mattaini (nee Landoni), and Carlo Mattaini, ca. 1885-1929; and two small photographs of Carlo Mattaini as a young man. In addition, the fonds contains a brief genealogy titled "Landoni-Mattaini Family History", compiled by Pat Mestern.

Mattaini (Fergus, Ont.) (family) : Carlo Mattaini immigrated to Canada in 1896 from the village of Vergiati in Lombardy, Italy. He first lived with his sister Assumta Mattaini and her husband Romeo Landoni in West Garafraxa township in Wellington County. Carlo Mattaini (often anglicized to Charles Mattaini) married Maria Landoni in 1903 in the town of Arthur. She was the daughter of Faustino and Carolina Landoni. Carlo and Maria Mattaini settled in Fergus, Ontario where they had a family of seven children. Carlo Mattaini owned and operated a construction company that built bridges, homes, public buildings, railway lines, and factories, and much else, being responsible for much of the construction in Wellington County between 1900 and 1929, and employing as many as fifty men. Carlo Mattaini died in 1947 and Maria Mattaini (nee Landoni) died in 1970.

Landoni (Fergus, Ont.) (family) : The brothers Romeo Landoni and Faustino Landoni, and Faustino's wife Carolina, emigrated from the village of Vergiati in Lombardy, Italy, in 1886, to Canada to live with their uncle Louis Landoni in West Garafraxa township, Wellington County, Ontario. Romeo Landoni married Assumta Mattaini, from the same village in Italy, in 1890, and they had two daughters, Josephine and Emma. Assumta Landoni died in 1899. Romeo Landoni was a farmer but occasionally worked in the brick works or in the local construction industry. Faustino Landoni was also a farmer who periodically worked in the brickmaking or construction industries. In 1919, Faustino and Carolina Landoni moved permanently to Fergus, Ontario. He died in 1930 and she died in 1949.
