The fonds consists of records pertaining to Noël Brunet's musical career. It contains, among other items, a curriculum vitae and a promotional pamphlet; programmes of Brunet's concerts; a poster for a concert in Germany; manuscript copies of popular and classical folk music; annotated printed works from Brunet's repertoire; a collection of autographed concert programmes; and photographs of Noël Brunet and chamber music ensembles.

Brunet, Noël, 1916-1973 : Montreal-born violinist and teacher Noël Brunet studied violin with his brother Henri, Alfred De Sève, Maurice Onderet (McGill Conservatorium), Alfred Dubois (Conservatoire royale de Bruxelles), Theodore and Alice Pashkus in New York and Joseph Szigeti in California. He won several significant awards including the Prix d'Europe (1936) and the prix Adolphe-Canler (1939). Mr. Brunet returned to Canada in 1939 and began a prestigious career in Canada and the United States, performing with the Société des concerts symphoniques de Montréal, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and John Newmark, among others. He taught at the Conservatoire de Trois-Rivières (1967-69) and the Conservatoire de Chicoutimi (1969-73), training a number of violinists, including Gilles Baillargeon, Jasmine Perron and Jacques Verdon.
