The fonds contains records pertaining to Frances Duncan Barwick's musical activities. It contains, among other items, legal records pertaining to the J.P. Barwick Estate; personal and professional correspondence; files related to a range of organizations including the University of Toronto, the Ottawa Memorial Society, Sandy Hill, and the Ottawa Music Festival Association; files related to travel, receptions and real estate transactions; concert programs; press clippings; and photographs of the musician, various other musicians, members of her family and the Ottawa residence of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Barwick.

Barwick, Frances Duncan, 1909-1984 : A harpsichordist born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Frances Duncan Barwick studied in Paris with Marguerite Delcourt and in England with Kathleen and Arnold Dolmetsch. She gave her first concert in Canada in 1932 at the Eaton Auditorium in Toronto and in 1939 moved to Ottawa, where she was active in chamber music. In 1945, she performed Bach's Concerto in D Minor and Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 with the Petite symphonie de Montréal. She was also involved in a number of organizations such as the Pro Musica Society of Ottawa.
