Fonds consists of photographs related to Mr. William's career as a diplomat and as a Canadian ambassador in New York, Geneva, India, Vietnam, Ghana, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania and Nepal from 1952 to 1977.

Also included are photographs of the visit of Mrs. Indira Ghandi to Canada, 1973; visit of Marshal Joseph Tito to Gander, Newfoundland, 1972; group photo of members of the International Commission for Supervision & Control for Vietnam, Hanoi, [1956-1957].

Photographs of individuals include Mrs. Indira Ghandi, Jawaharal Nehru, Marshal Joseph Tito, Nicolae Ceausescu, Kwame Nkrumah, Mitchell Sharp, Robert Stanfield, Lester B. Pearson, John Diefenbaker, Louis St-Laurent, Roland Michener, Georges P. Vanier, Howard C. Green, George Hees, Paul Martin, Donald Jamieson, G.W.T. Hill, Andrei Gromyko, Judge Emmett M. Hall, Michel Gauvin, Pierre H. Cadieux.

Williams, Bruce MacGillivray, 1918-2005 : Born in Nipigon, Ont., on 31 Jan. 1918. Son of Herbert Bruce and Margaret (Hogan) W. Graduated from University of Toronto in 1941 and served with Canadian Army in World War II. On his return from Europe, he taught one year at Ridley College, St. Catharines, Ontario and then started his career with the Department of External Affairs in 1946 as a Foreign Service Officer. His many postings included: Canadian delegation to the U.N., New York, 1946-1948; Deputy Permanent Delegation of Canada to European Office of the U.N., Geneva, 1952-53; Counsellor, Office of High Commissioner for Canada in India, 1953-56; Commissioner International Supervisory Commission for Vietnam, 1956-57; High Commissioner for Canada in Ghana 1959-62, and concurrently Ambassador to Togo, Upper Volta, Ivory Coast and Guinea; Ambassador to Turkey 1962-64; ersecy. of State for External Affairs 1964-67; Ambassador to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Romania 1967-72; High Commissioner to India and Ambassador to Nepal 1972-74; and Extve. Vice President, Canadian International D nt Agency, 1974-77. He died in Ottawa, on Monday, August 15, 2005, at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre.
