The records document the work of the Canadian Army War Crimes Investigation Section in the Far East and Major G.B. Puddicombe's prosecution of Japanese officers accused of atrocities against Canadian prisoners-of-war at Hong Kong and in Japan during the Second World War, and includes administrative and operational records relating to the war crimes trials and investigations. Included are correspondence and messages, memorandums, affidavits, statements, testimonies, abstracts of evidence, summaries of examination, charge sheets, particulars of accused, proceedings, notes and forms. Also included are clippings and original photographs with negatives documenting his official and personal activities and interests in Hong Kong and Japan; and Canadian newspapers regarding the war crimes trials, and addresses by Puddicombe to the Canadian Legion and Rotary Club regarding his stay in Hong Kong and the war crimes trials.
