This short film documents the story of Marie Peary, the first white baby to be born in the Arctic. The daughter of Arctic explorer Robert Peary and his wife Josephine, Marie became the centre of fascinated attention of the native Greenlanders and was given the name Ah-ni-ghi-to. She accompanied her parents on various later expeditions, including one when their ship was trapped all winter by heavy icefields. That winter Ah-ni-ghi-to became the first white child to survive an Arctic winter in the region, and the first to learn the native language.
