The class consists of annual statistical reports compiled by the Inspector General of Imports and Exports under the title States of Navigation, Commerce and Revenue. Three categories of summaries are presented each in tabular format. Under Navigation he reported on the number and tonnage of vessels built and registered in ports of the British Empire, as well as on vessels entering or clearing outward from those ports. Under Commerce he reported on the total value of imports and exports of Great Britain, distinguishing British and foreign merchandise. Under Revenue he reported annual payments to the Exchequer arising from Customs, Excise and Stamp duties, land tax and other assessments, from the Post Office, lotteries, and so forth. This material is located on microfilm reels B-3911 to B-3919.
