On hand for the opening ceremonies were Public Works Minister George McIlraith, Ottawa Mayor Don Reid, and Monteal Canadiens President, David Molson. At the end of the game, several Canadiens are shown signing autographs. Included in this group is John Ferguson, who in 1992 became Director of Player Development for the expansion Ottawa Senators.
