The "What is It?" slideshow was produced to inform its member clubs and the general public about the purpose, accomplishments, and range of activities of the CFUW across the country. The accompanying talk and the slides changed frequently over the years but most of these changes reflected minor tinkering rather than a substantial overhaul. The textual records are generally scripts for the accompanying slides (identified by number), correspondence with clubs about the slideshow, and feedback forms from the audience on the effectiveness and usefulness of the presentation. The series includes a sound recording made in 1984 to accompany the slideshow.
In addition to "What is it", the series contains four other slideshows with corresponding texts: "The Vancouver Triennial Conference" (1967), an executive meeting (1980) and two promotional slideshows (1987 and no date).
