The town of Callander, Ontario, the birthplace of the Dionne quintuplets. The effects of the tourist industry based around the quintuplets on the town are shown four years after the birth of the girls. Included is footage of the quintuplets at the age of four.~Footage of: Callander and the Quints' compound in winter; aerial view of the compound and surrounding buildings in winter; the train station in Callander; souvenir stands near the compound, including the shop run by Oliva Dionne, the quints' father; the hospital building; the nursery; the observation gallery for the public; Dr. Dafoe arriving at the compound; Dr. Dafoe dressed in a fur coat and cap; the quintuplets on the front porch, dressed in fur coats; and the quintuplets playing outside in the snow with sleds, skis, and shovels.~Various shots of Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe at his office and the Dionne quintuplets at home.~Footage of: Dr. Dafoe's house in Callander, Ontario; his nameplate; Dafoe sitting in an easy chair by the fire; a cupboard containing medicines; Dafoe family photographs; Dafoe's diplomas; actuality of Dafoe reading a script for one of his three weekly radio broadcasts for CBS radio, talking about the importance of rest for mothers; an operator is shown in Dafoe's study while Dafoe reads his script; close-ups of letters received by Dafoe; Dafoe and a male secretary discussing his correspondence; Dafoe dictating a reply; the Dionne Quintuplets' business manager, Keith [Munroe], and secretary-treasurer, William Flanner, looking over a ledger of the quintuplets' accounts; close-up of some of the accounts, showing contract payments from such companies as Pathé News and Colgate-Palmolive for the year 1937; a voice-over explaining that the quints' financial worth, enriched by newspaper and motion picture contracts, gives them an average yearly income of close to $200,000; close-ups of Colgate-Palmolive print advertisements featuring the quintuplets; exterior of a Canadian Bank of Commerce branch in North Bay; two men, one apparently a bank official and the other Judge [Valence], who handle the investments of the quintuplets; one of the men cutting up what appears to be sheet of bonds as the narrator explains that they have invested the quints' money in Grade A bonds; scenes of the quints' belongings, neatly organized in sets of five, such as boots, mitts, hats, coats, toothbrushes and towels; the quintuplets eating, sitting down, singing, playing dressup with the nurses' clothing, and playing with sound recording equipment used by the newsreel crew; the crew member responsible for the sound recording in surgical gown and mask; Yvonne singing into the microphone; the quintuplets looking at their first movie, a Mickey Mouse cartoon; one of the nurses shown projecting the cartoon; and the quints saying their prayers before going to bed.
