Fonds consists of a photo album documenting events and individuals during the term of office of the Earl of Minto as Governor General of Canada, including activities of the Minto family, their friends, and members of the vice-regal household.

The following subjects are documented: ceremony marking the first printing of the first copies of the Canadian Imperial penny postage stamp, Ottawa, 1 December 1898; skating, skiing and toboganning activity at Rideau Hall, Ottawa, 1898-1899; scenes and cast members of the pantomine "The Babes in the Wood" performed at Rideau Hall, Ottawa, 1899; visit of the Mintos to Niagara Falls, 1899; Queen's Birthday military review, Niagara-on-the-Lake, 1899; visit of the Mintos to the Citadel, Quebec City, for a naval review, September 1899; departure from Quebec City of the 2nd (Special Service) Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry, for service in South Africa, 30 October 1899.

Other subjects documented include: scenes and cast members of the pantomine "The Princess and the Pauper" performed at Rideau Hall, Ottawa, 1900; departure of Lord Strathcona's Horse for service in South Africa, Ottawa, 7 March 1900; the great Ottawa-Hull fire, April 1900; Queen's Birthday military review, Toronto, 1900; Harry Graham and friends camping in the Thousand Islands, Ontario, 1900; portraits of Lord and Lady Minto and of members of the vice-regal household.
