Fonds consists of photographic depictions of railway operations in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. The following subjects are documented: locomotives and rolling stock of CN, CP Rail, VIA Rail, GO Transit and the Toronto Transit Commission, as well as various branch lines throughout Canada; grain locomotives used in industrial service throughout Canada; grain transportation in Western Canada, including Government of Canada hopper cars; rail lines affected by the federal government's Prairie Branchline Rehabilitation Program, including views of stations, elevators, and trestles; passenger and freight operations on various branch lines in the Ottawa Valley; operations of the Thurso and Nation Valley Railway, the last logging railway in Eastern Canada; steam locomotives 1201, 1057 and 6060, operated by CN and by the National Museum of Science and Technology in the Ottawa area.
