Collection consists of a photo album depicting exterior views of railway stations, railway station gardens and interior views of news stands, lunch counters, restaurants and bars, operated by the Canada Railway News Co. Limited in railway stations and aboard steamships. Other photographs depict: the first Grand Trunk Pacific Railway passenger train travelling west from Winnipeg, Manitoba, 30 July 1908; exterior and interior views, and views of recreational sports (baseball, canoeing, croquet, fishing, golf, lawn bowling, swimming, tennis) as well as views of the passenger steamships S.S. Florence Main and S.S. Iroquois, at the Wawa Hotel, Lake of Bays, Ontario, 1909; major fire, McBride, British Columbia, 18 May 1918; interior view of the lunch counter car of Harvesters Special train en route from Ottawa to western Canada, 22 August 1923; portraits of C.R. Carr, John Hanna, George Hyams, Hon. James P. Mabee (Chairman of the Board of Railway Commissioners), and Walter Mepham.

Cara Holdings Limited : Cara Holdings Limited, a regional hotel owner and operator, began its operations in 1883 as Canada Railway News Company. The Canada Railway News Company sold newspapers, magazines and confectioneries before moving to the restaurant business. The company's roots go back to the mid-1850s, when Thomas Patrick Phelan was selling apples and newspapers to train passengers on the Niagara Steamboats. Canada Railway News soon moved into the food business, catering to a boom in passenger rail traffic in Canada. Then, in the 1930s, the company began offering catering services to the airlines and by 1941, Aero Caterers Limited was launched.

Cara Holdings Limited dates to 1961, when Canada Railway News Co. merged with Aero Caterers Limited, founded in 1941 as an airline catering service, to form Cara Operations Limited. The name Cara was derived from the first two letters of each of the words "Canada Railway". Cara was owned solely by the Phelan family from its inception in 1883 until it went public in 1968. At that time, its primary business was catering to the transportation sector (airline and rail meals), but it did operate restaurants and coffee shops in various office towers and airport terminals in Canada.

In 1977, Cara purchased FoodCorp Limited which included Swiss Chalet and Harvey's.

In 2010, the company exited the airline catering business.

In May 2018, Cara Operations Limited changed its name to Recipe Unlimited Corporation and its headquarters are in Vaughan, Ontario, a suburb north of Toronto within the Greater Toronto Area.

When Fairfax Financial became the parent company in 2022, Recipe Unlimited had over 1,200 restaurants in Canada, the United States, Saudi Arabia, India and the United Arab Emirates.
