The rewash technique was developed by National Archives' Senior Film Conservator Dennis Waugh as a treatment for films discovered buried under the permafrost in Dawson City, Yukon in 1978. A short film that was salvaged with this process is shown (IDC #22320 International News, Volume 1 Issue 53 - [excerpt]) featuring Alexander Graham Bell's hydrofoil.~The technical details of the treatment are described including presoaking, various wash and chemical treatment baths, spray and scrubbing tanks, through to drying. A rewashed reel is examined and processing staples are removed in preparation for film copying. The technique is presented by the following National Archives personnel: William O'Farrell (Chief, Film Conservation); Dennis Waugh (Senior Film Conservator); Luc Morisset (Film Conservator).Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
