Press conference held by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health and Welfare, Social Affairs, Seniors and Status of Women, represented by Bob Porter, (Chairman and Progressive Conservative MP); Dr. Rey Pagtakhan (Liberal MP) and Jim Karpoff (New Democratic Party MP). Prior to the opening statement by the Standing Committee, Mr. Karpoff discusses his minority report pointing out the impact on the provinces of federal government reduction in health care transfer payments. In opening statements, Mr. Porter and Mr. Pagtakhan discuss their report, "The Health Care System and Its Funding: No Easy Solutions". A question period follows. A follow-up conference is held by the Sub-Committee on the Status of Women of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health and Welfare, Social Affairs, Seniors and the Status of Women, represented by Barbara Greene, (Chairperson and Progressive Conservative MP), Mary Clancy, (Liberal MP), and Dawn Black, (New Democratic Party MP), to discuss their report, "The War Against Women", a current study of violence committed against women in Canada. A question period follows. <1h>
