Film about the quarrying of stone in Ontario, expressed in biblical terms. The 1927 Ontario Motion Picture Bureau catalogue describes it as follows: "Just as in the days of King Solomon "hewed stones, sawed within and without" were made ready to give endurance and beauty to the great buildings of that time, so today Ontario stone is quarried and made ready in much the same way. The beautiful new Government Offices in Queen's Park, Toronto, have been constructed entirely of stone from the Queenston [mis-spelled Queenstone] quarries."~The film shows intertitles superimposed over aerial view of an ancient building; tall monument at Queen's Park; long-shot of men working in stone quarry; various shots of men drilling holes and inserting wedges; a large crane lifts large rock; man measuring a large block; train carrying large stone block away from the quarry; massive stone block with company name "Canada Crushed Stone Corp. Ltd." arrivng at the mill; long-shot of machines cutting slabs, medium shot of same machines, close-up of same machines cutting through the stone; long-shot of stone block leaving the machine; man chipping with mallet at a block of stone; men preparing large slab of stone to be hoisted up; man helping slab be set down in position and taking off hoist; long-shot of man putting large slab through a very large rotary saw; close-up of saw going through the slab; close-up of the saw blade, a hand with a pencil points out the "Bart" diamonds; man setting machinery or adjusting it to perfect level; dissolve to close-up of slab being smoothed by machinery; long-shot of slab going into a machine; long-shot of small slab of stone being cut by planing machine; close-up of machine cutting the stone with man supervising; medium shot of large rotary saw cutting through stone; ame shot with action speeded up; long-shot of room full of stone masons using electric chisels; medium shot of mason tracing outline of a design on stone; of electric chisel cutting through stone; various shots of different chiseling jobs as the work becomes more detailed; various shots of stone carver doing detailed work on the carving of a ship in a stone blcok; close-up of stone carver's work.~The film concludes with a repeat of the opening shot of the ancient building with intertitles from I Kings VI:7 superimposed; coompleted carved works are stacked together, man removes hoist from stone carving; long-shot of building as man hoists up finished pieces to their proper place ono the building and various shot as pieces are put into place.
