Letters from friends and relatives deal principally with details of family life, and refer to the frequent exchange of gifts and social visits, as well as travels abroad (particularly to England). Business interests, the First World War, and involvement with the Anglican Church are also mentioned.
A significant portion of the correspondence comprises letters sent by Lorimer and "Covert" (James Hamilton) to their mother Isabel and grandmother Mary while attending a number of well-known Ontario preparatory schools such as Lakefield, Ridley College, and Trinity College School during the mid 1910s to early 1920s. Report cards and letters from school staff also appear. Some letters of a later date were written whilst at Royal Military College.
