In 1944, the Department of Reconstruction was created to formulate and coordinate plans and projects for post-war reconstruction. In December 1945, this Department was merged with the Department of Munitions and Supply to create the Department of Reconstruction and Supply, with CD Howe as Minister. In 1947, the Department's procurement function was transferred to the Canadian Commercial Corporation. In 1951, the Department of Defence Construction was created and absorbed the remainder of the Department's functions. Eldorado reported to Parliament through the Department of Reconstruction, and then through the Department of Reconstruction and Supply.

Sub-series consists of files transferred (under unknown circumstances) from the Department of Reconstruction and supply to Eldorado. The files are related to contracts, research, etc.
