The records in this accession were originally created by the Marketing and Economics Branch and maintained by the Policy Branch upon transfer.
This accession consists of memoranda, correspondence, briefing notes, discussion papers, policy reports, annual reports of producing organizations, agenda, minutes, statutory instruments, and agreements, among other record types. The records relate to Agriculture Canada policy issues as they are affected and formed by new legislation and by amendments to legislation such as the Agriculture Stabilization Act, the Western Grain Stabilization Act, the Advanced Payments for Crops Act, the Prairie Grain Advance Payments Act, and the Agricultural Products Cooperative Marketing Act, among others. More specifically, the records relate to assistance and support programs offered by Agriculture Canada to producing organizations, which are mandated through the previously mentioned legislation. For example, the records relate to the administration of the Advanced Payments for Crops Program that offered financial support to participating producing organizations (usually Provincial agricultural associations)and their members, and include formal agreements, financial statements, default investigations, and other financial records. Other programs include but are not limited to: the Western Grain Stabilization Program; the Crow's Nest Pass Rate Benefit; the Feed Freight Assistance Program; the Ontario and British Columbia Feed Freight Assistance Programs; the Innovator Incentive Program; and the Agricultural Products Cooperative Marketing Act Program. The records also relate to prices, statistics, insects and diseases.
