Highlights from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau family collection of home movies, as selected and restored by the National Archives, as follows:~1. From the trip Charles-Émile Trudeau, father of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, took to Europe in 1929: Crowd of people aboard ocean liner watching two men boxing in a boxing ring on deck; Trudeau's business associates standing in a street, probably in France; group in a café, possibly in Morocco, Algeria or Egypt; scenes probably taken in Egypt of an outdoor market, a train running along shore, ships, camel caravans, people and buildings, the travellers riding camels, scenes of pyramids and the men standing near small sphinx; scenes of Athens and temple ruins; and a rooftop view of the travellers touring an unidentified city, possibly in Eastern Europe.~2. Various scenes of Pierre Trudeau and his brother Charles when they were young boys: The Trudeau family house on McCullough Avenue in Montreal in winter; boys throwing snowballs; the two boys standing on the front steps of a house; scenes from fall or spring of the boys standing on the steps; Pierre Trudeau, the taller boy, in a cadet uniform; Pierre Trudeau walking on stilts; group of cadets lined up for inspection outside St-Viateur Church in Montreal, including a marching band; Pierre Trudeau and his brother Charles with other boys walking on stilts down the road; the Trudeau children and other children sitting on top of old, abandoned locomotive; and a group of adults and children, including the Trudeau boys and their sister Suzette standing beside a car.~3. Trudeau family visit to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, upon the return from the trip to Europe in 1933: The family getting out of a car; Charles "Tip" Trudeau on veranda, likely at the Trudeau summer home at Old Orchard Beach; members of the Trudeau family, cousins from Massachusetts and friends on the beach; Pierre Trudeau and other children at a party; more beach scenes; the Trudeau boys and other people diving into an outdoor pool at nearby Ocean Park; people waiting at a station as the "Flying Yankee" train goes past; the Trudeau family at Atlantic City, New Jersey and visiting Camp Ellis with friends and cousins; and a boy (Pierre Trudeau?) plays with dog on a lawn.~5. Lac Pierre Boy Scout Camp in 1934: Pierre Trudeau and his fellow Scouts at the summer camp at Lac Pierre, including shots of the Scouts at Mass, inside their tents, at varous Scout ceremonies, and a visit by unidentified priests, including a bishop.~9. Winter scenes on Mount Royal near the Trudeau family home in 1934 or 1935: The Trudeau boys and their friends skiing on Mount Royal; the children playing on their street; adults, including Grace Elliott Trudeau and her father, watching the boys skiing; and Pierre Trudeau tumbling into the snow.~10. Trip to Florida by Charles-Émile Trudeau and his wife Grace Elliott Trudeau in March 1935: Unidentified adults on the beach, some of whom may be friends of the Trudeau family; scenes of the Montreal Royals baseball team at practice during spring training in Orlando, Florida.~11. Montreal Royals playing at De Lormier(s) Park in Montreal, probably in 1935, including shots of the field, the stands and long-shots of the action.~12. Summer camp and other summertime activities of the Trudeau boys, circa 1935: Boy Scout summer camp, possibly at Pointe-aux-Chênes on the Ottawa River, in 1935: Pierre Trudeau carrying a tray of food; boys outside tents and boys at work in the camp; Pierre Trudeau at a summer cottage, possibly in 1935, on an air mattress on a lake, playing with a dog; teenage boys on a canoe trip at Ahmek, a camp on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park, including shots of the boys camping, canoeing, and standing around in costumes outside a cabin; boys departing from Collège Brébeuf, the school attended by Pierre Trudeau and his brother, apparently heading to Lucerne, Quebec, on the Ottawa River, where a group of young men, probably the graduating class, are shown dining with their teachers; and more scenes of boys canoeing at Camp Ahmek.~13.
