Canada. Canadian Army. Canadian Field Artillery. Battery, 16th : The 16th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery was organized in November 1914 under the command of Major W. Simpson under authorization published in General Order 36 of 15 March 1915. The battery was mobilized at London, Ontario and recruited from the 6th Field Battery (London), the 16th Field Battery (Guelph) and the 30th Field Battery (Aylmer), of the Non-Permanent Active Militia.

The battery disembarked at Montreal on 20 May 1915 aboard MISSANABIE, disembarking in England on 30 May 1915. Its strength was 5 officers and 151 other ranks. The battery arrived in France on 15 September 1915, becoming part of the 4th Brigade, 2nd Canadian Divisional Artillery. It was transferred to the 6th Brigade on 22 May 1916 and was increased to a 6-gun battery on 19 March 1917 by the addition of a left section, the 28th Battery. The battery was demobilized at London in May 1919 and was disbanded by General Order 191 of 1 November 1920. The 16th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery was perpetuated by the 16th (Guelph) Field Battery.
