A Nova Scotia stampless folded letter (cover), addressed to the "Hon. Jonathan McCulley-Halifax", manuscript and postmark dated 1852.. The cover bears the following postal markings; struck (back) with one "Amherst, N.S." double split ring circular date stamp, dated "Ap(ril) 27-1852", in black, (the point of mailing); struck (front) with one "Paid at Amherst, N.S." Crown Circle postmark, in red, indicating postage prepaid; manuscript rate marked (front) with the number "3", in red, (indicating a single rate prepaid domestic letter - ie. 3 pence per ± oz); struck (back) with one oval Halifax transit date stamp, ("H-AP29-1852-NS") in black, used as a receiver. The cover also bears the manuscript notation "W. Harrison's lett(er)-Re(ceive)d 29 Ap(ril) 1852"..
