Some of these interviews were done during the writing of Bruce's book entitled, Back the attack! : Canadian women during the Second World War, at home and abroad. The fonds also consists of interviews of immigrants to Canada about their experiences. These interviews were prepared during the research phase for a book compiled by Jean Bruce and funded by the Multiculturalism Directorate of the Secretary of State entitled, After the war.Provenance :Nom(s) additionnel(s) :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Bruce, Jean, 1936- : Jean Bruce was born in 1936. She is an Ottawa-based researcher and author who has worked on a variety of projects for federal government departments as well as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
As an oral historian, Jean Bruce recorded many interviews with a variety of Canadians including immigrants, women and their experiences during the Second World War and people involved with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Many of these interviews were part of the research for her publications. She wrote Back the attack! : Canadian women during the Second World War, at home and abroad; The last best west; and After the war.
