Press conference held by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada calling for reforms in the public service and amendments to the Public Service Staff Relations Act. In opening statements, President of the Institute Iris Craig (in English) and Vice-President Walter Walling (in French) outline recommendations put forward in their brief to the federal government and criticize the Public Service 2000 initiative for failing to include the interests of the rank and file of the Public Service. A question period follows. Two brief conferences follow on the same subject and presenting similar views. The first is held by Liberal Party Member of Parliament Marlene Catterall and the second by an unidentified New Democratic Party Member of Parliament.
